SATURDAY DIV 3: Goal Sports crush Eastway to seal promotion

Mike Grayshan scored the only goal of the first half just before half-time and added a second shortly after the interval, then Mark Plumpton’s side cut loose with Kieran Friett and George Friend both smacking in hat-tricks. Sam Broadbent opened the scoring for Rovers in the first half with a fine finish from inside the box after a clever free-kick from Luke Jones. The visitors doubled their lead after the break when sub Sam Pickard drilled his shot into the bottom corner, then Shaun Wood side-footed the ball past his own keeper from Sean Bloom’s Cross, sealing the win for the away side. Bloom then completed the scoring with a composed finish in a one-on-one with the Wasps keeper after a good through-ball from Neil Forsyth. Niall Gibb was named as Rovers man of the match with centre-back Josh Beach the Westover star man. Wasps boss Rob McPherson said: “Credit where it’s due to the Itis Itis lads, they’re definitely the team to watch for next season.” Sleights Reserves romped to a 23-1 win at Filey Town 3rds, who started with eight men and finished the game with seven due to an injury. Jim Niel, Simon Taylor, Ryan Roe and Rob Ingham scored four goals apiece for the visitors, Tom Kilpatrick also scoring a hat-trick and Mike Dent adding a brace.
